Culture is about to go extinct. Global warming? No. Nuclear war? No. Epidemic? No. We are doomed because we are giving up on talking to each other. What is the cause?

Earbuds!

Ever wanted to talk to that girl on the subway but couldn't just because she had on earbuds? Yeah, you know the feeling. There are only two possible outcomes:

Outcome 1)

Being completely ignored. She didn't hear you for obvious reasons. Idiot.

Outcome 2)

"Huh?" *takes headphones off*. Then you have to come up with something witty, like, "Ohh, umm, just wondering what you are listening to." Idiot.

See! Either way you look like an idiot.

This means you're not even going to try.

This is very simple. If you put on earbuds in public places you are denying yourself, and the people around you, an opportunity. You've probably heard the song before anyway.

Wait. wait. wait. How can this be ruining the culture? Because right now the masses are adopting trendy new music players and subsequently putting on earbuds, everywhere. Sure, maybe you just want to listen to a few tunes... how often do you talk to random people anyway? Well, take that attitude and times it by the millions of people making the same decision. We are headed for a social recession!

How do I help?

Take them off!!!

But I'm not an offender, how do I convince others?

The ballsy thing to do would be to do ask people to take them off. The less ballsy thing would be to put a blog banner on your website. Blog banners are sort of silly though, since they are not very social. Maybe you should buy our shirts or buttons. Those, of course, should only be used as a conversation starter.
